About This Program

Veda Pathashala is our flagship offering — the traditional method of Vedic chanting transmission. Students learn to recite hymns from the Rigveda and Samaveda with exact svara (tonal accent), pada (word boundary), and breath — just as has been done for 5,000+ years in unbroken oral lineage.

This is not a scholarly study of texts. It is a living, embodied practice. The svara pattern of Vedic recitation engages the nervous system differently than any other form of learning. Students who chant consistently report clarity, calm, and a deepened connection to their heritage.

Curriculum

  • Devanagari script recognition
  • Svara system (udatta, anudatta, svarita)
  • Rigveda Mandala 1 selections
  • Samaveda Purvarchika chants
  • Sandhyavandanam basics
  • Daily Vedic prayers
  • Breath and pronunciation discipline
  • Vedic meter (chandas) introduction

Children and adults are taught in separate groups. All levels welcome -- no prior Sanskrit required.

About This Program

Sanskrit is not a dead language. It is the most precisely structured language human beings have ever devised — a language designed to express states of consciousness that other languages cannot reach. Learning Sanskrit is not merely linguistic: it reshapes how the mind categorizes reality.

Our Sanskrit program is practical and progressive. Children learn Devanagari script, basic vocabulary, and noun/verb patterns through games and songs. Adults learn grammar (vyakarana) from Panini’s framework, and begin to read simple Vedic and classical texts directly.

Curriculum

  • Devanagari script (reading and writing)
  • Sanskrit alphabet (varnamala)
  • Noun declensions (vibhakti)
  • Verb conjugation (dhatu)
  • Basic Paninian grammar
  • Sanskrit numbers and daily phrases
  • Simple Vedic verse reading
  • Introduction to subhashitas

About This Program

The Yoga Vashishtha is one of the most remarkable books ever written — 32,000 verses of Vedantic philosophy delivered as a dialogue between Vashishta the sage and Rama the prince. It addresses the nature of consciousness, the mechanism of suffering, the structure of reality, and the path to liberation.

Our Vedic Philosophy program uses the Yoga Vashishtha as its primary text, alongside the Bhagavad Gita and selected Upanishads. Monthly intensive weekends allow for the sustained, unhurried inquiry that this material deserves.

Curriculum

  • Yoga Vashishtha (selected sections)
  • Bhagavad Gita chapter study
  • Mandukya Upanishad
  • Viveka Chudamani selections
  • The nature of mind (manas)
  • Advaita Vedanta fundamentals
  • Inquiry practice (vichara)
  • Integration with daily life

Monthly weekend intensives: Saturday 9am - 5pm, Sunday 9am - 1pm. This format allows deep inquiry rather than surface-level survey.

About This Program

For children growing up between two worlds — Indian and American — this program gives them something the school system cannot: a living connection to their cultural heritage. Not as museum pieces, but as living arts and practices that shape character.

We use stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata as vehicles for teaching dharma, courage, devotion, and discernment. Vedic mathematics reveals the elegance and depth of the tradition. Classical music and slokas train attention and memory.

Curriculum

  • Vedic slokas and daily prayers
  • Ramayana stories and values
  • Vedic mathematics (Vedic math shortcuts)
  • Introduction to Carnatic music
  • Indian classical dance basics
  • Sanskrit basics through songs
  • Seasonal Vedic festivals
  • Nature awareness and cow seva

Children who attend this program also participate in seasonal festivals at the Panchavati campus -- Diwali, Sankranti, Rama Navami -- connecting learning to living celebration.
